  • Donald Trump’s former personal attorney pleaded guilty on Novermber 29, 2018 to one count of giving false statements to Congress in its investigation of Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election.
  • Cohen admitted that he lied to Congress about his efforts to build a Trump Tower in Russia through June 2016, which is later than he originally stated in his congressional testimony.
  • Cohen said that he made false statements to Congress out of loyalty to the president and to align with Mr. Trump’s “political messaging.”
  • Previously, Cohen pleaded guilty to federal charges of committing campaign finance violations and financial crimes.
